“I watched the men and women walking past us on the sidewalk. They looked pretty much like any other musicians. They were dressed for each other. Oversized clothes, fedora hats that seemed slightly misplaced compared to the rest of their attire, sunglasses…always suglasses. Most of them tried to look confident. Most of them were full of pretense. All of them were a little overmatched by the speed at which the world came at them. But these boys and girls weren’t like other players, and I knew it.
